KNOW YOUR NUMBERS FREE HEALTH SCREENING EVENT TO BE HELD AT DEFIANCE COLLEGE

Defiance County residents can learn more about their risk for heart disease at a free health screening
event offered by the Defiance County Health Department and Defiance College on Thursday, February
15th. The event will be held in the Defiance College: Serrick Campus Center at 701 N. Clinton St from
9am to 3pm.

Health screenings offered at this event include:
 Blood Pressure
 BMI
 Glucose (Blood Sugar)
 Waist to Hip Ratio
 3-Minute Step Test

These screenings will be offered to any interested member of the public for free. Light refreshments will
be provided and attendees will be entered for a chance to win various door prizes.

The Defiance County Health Department and Defiance College want to remind the public that heart
disease is a group of heart conditions. The most common condition in the US is coronary artery disease
which affects the blood flow to the heart. A yearly check-up is recommended for all adults and children.
Stacy Lucas, Director of Nursing at the Defiance County Health Department, reminds everyone that
“screenings are key for early detection of health problems, management of health behaviors and risk
factors, and better treatment options. Ultimately, preventative screenings provide the best opportunity
to change someone’s health in a positive way. This FREE screening day is the perfect opportunity to
begin by knowing your numbers!”
