ANDERSON, Ind. – The Anderson Ravens handed the Defiance Yellow Jackets an 8-0 defeat in Wednesday’s HCAC women’s soccer match at Fridley Field.
The Yellow Jackets (2-8-2, 0-5) dropped their sixth consecutive match while being outshot by the Ravens (5-5-2, 2-2-1) 39-6. In four HCAC matches played, Defiance has now been outscored 22-1.
Anderson posted their first goal just four minutes into the contest when Anhely Montes lined a shot past Sarah O’Shea in Defiance’s net. Anderson netted five more balls in the first half, including a pair by Emily Wilusz during the 30th and 35th minutes. In the second half, Lillie Wessel found the back of the net twice to give Anderson their highest-scoring offensive performance of the season.
O’Shea spent the first 25 minutes in goal for Defiance before Madison Hert played the final 65. O’Shea stopped one of five shots faced while Hert recorded a career-high 16 saves. Defiance’s only two shots on goal were split between Hallie Webb early in the second half and Lexi Coward in the 81st minute.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday with a men’s and women’s doubleheader at Franklin. Kickoff to the women’s contest is scheduled for 1 p.m.
