BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bowling Green State University football team scored 24 unanswered points on Saturday to grab a road Mid-American Conference win on Saturday at Buffalo, 24-14, inside UB Stadium.
The Falcons (3-4, 1-2 MAC) capped the 24-0 run with a blocked punt returned for a touchdown by PaSean Wimberly, spoiling Homecoming for the Bulls (2-5, 2-1 MAC).
Bowling Green forced five Buffalo turnovers, including four interceptions, in the wet and rainy conditions. Terion Stewart led the way for the Falcons with 123 rushing yards and Davon Ferguson intercepted two passes to pace BGSU.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Buffalo forced a turnover in BGSU territory on the Falcons second offensive drive. Cooper Snyder snuck around the edge on RPO with 7:38 in the first quarter to put Buffalo up 7-0.
• Alan Anaya connected on his first field goal attempt from 23 yards to bring BGSU within four points, 7-3.
• After BGSU forced a Buffalo fumble in the closing minutes of the first quarter, Camden Orth’s one-yard rush put BGSU up for good at 10-7 with 25 seconds left in the first frame.
• BGSU scored its second touchdown after a 13-play, 86-yard drive took 8:06 off the clock. Orth found Ta’ron Keith over the shoulder for a three-yard passing score to put BGSU up 17-7.
• Buffalo’s ensuing possession ended with Avi McGary blocking a punt and Wimberly returning it 18 yards for a touchdown.
• Buffalo’s best drive of the game came with 3:02 left in the third quarter after an Orth interception. The Bulls went 8 plays for 74 yards to get back in the end zone for the final time. CJ Ogbonna found Darrell Harding Jr. on a 24-yard passing strike.
