HENRYVILLE, Ind. – Multiple individual and team records nearly tumbled for Defiance College women’s golf on Friday and Saturday at the HCAC Fall Preview hosted by Hanover at Hidden Creek Golf Club.
As a team, the Yellow Jackets compiled a 716 two-day total, one shot shy of tying the program’s 36-hole team tournament record. That total was built on rounds of 354 and 362, each checking in the top 10 in the record books.
On the individual front, Cassi Van Dyke and Winter Boroff each came within striking distance of the single-round record over the weekend while DC’s top three golfers all finished within two strokes of each other. It was Van Dyke who shot an 81 on Friday and Boroff matched the round on Saturday to record career-best rounds. Those scorecards were three shots off the school record of 78.
Boroff hit an 85 on Friday to total 166 for the tournament, just one stroke shy of tying the program’s 36-hole individual mark. Van Dyke’s combination of 81 and 86 placed her in a tie for the program’s third-best tournament performance while Isabelle Vance hit 85 and 83 for a 168 weekend and the fourth-best 36-hole score. All three golfers finished 22nd, 23rd and 25th respectively for the weekend. Freshman Emily Momany posted the best round of her young college career on Friday with a round of 103 followed by 112 on Saturday to total 215 for the weekend.
As a team, Defiance finished the tournament eighth as a team while eight of the conference’s 10 teams competed both days to compile team tournament scores. Defending conference champion Rose-Hulman took home the team title with a 613 team score with Precious Saelee winning the individual title after rounds of 69 and 75 for a 144.
