THREE QUESTION THURSDAY
SPOTLIGHT ON: MYLES HOLLIDAY
Myles Holliday, a former teacher and head football coach, has been bitten by the broadcast bug. Here is a little information he shared with us here at The Community and 24 Media about how he got started.
Rob Patz: How did you get into broadcasting?
Myles Holliday: I was looking to move on from teaching/coaching after 20 years and always enjoyed Auctions and Broadcasting. The first year out of education I went to Auctioneer school and completed my auctioneering apprenticeship while attending the American Broadcast School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, via online classes. Upon graduating from both, I decided to open an auction company Black Swamp Auctions in Toledo, Ohio, which my business partner and I ran successfully for 6 years. While operating the auction business I was contacted by “The Mayor of NW Ohio” Randy Roberts about commenting on some sports for WNHO TV26/ WOSN and that is where I met Ken Richer and we eventually realized we should start our own broadcasting entity called NWOHIO.Live, it’s been an amazing experience!
RP: Who is the one person that you would credit as an influence in your life and why?
MH: This is an impossible question to answer for me because I have been so blessed to have many positive people who have helped shape me and have loved me even when I might not have been so loveable. If you force me to narrow it down to one I would say my brother Jason Eaton who has always been there for me and is the absolute best sounding board a person could have.
RP: If you could call one game in sports history what game would it be and why?
MH: “Do you believe in MIRACLES ?!” The 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid when Jim Craig and our boys defeated the USSR in men’s hockey. As a child it was such a galvanizing moment for our country and the feeling of patriotism we all felt was so amazing. National pride after that win and the win in the gold medal game was at an all-time high! Al Michaels was the perfect man for that call but I’d love to get in the DeLorean with Doc Brown and give it a shot.
Thanks, Myles Holliday, for participating in Three Question Thursday!
